Amanda Hemmingsen-Jaeger Wins Special Election for Minnesota Senate District 47
Woodbury, MN —
Amanda Hemmingsen-Jaeger has won the special election to represent Minnesota Senate District 47, which includes portions of Woodbury and Maplewood, securing a critical seat that will determine the control of the Minnesota Senate.

“I am deeply honored that voters have entrusted me with this responsibility,” Hemmingsen-Jaeger said on election night. “Throughout this campaign, I heard again and again that Minnesotans want stable leadership focused on real solutions — protecting clean water, defending reproductive freedom, making healthcare more affordable, and supporting working families. I will bring those values with me to the Minnesota Senate every single day.”

Hemmingsen-Jaeger, a scientist and Assistant House Leader in the Minnesota State House of Representatives, centered her campaign on protecting Minnesota from harmful federal rollbacks, investing in strong public education, and keeping communities safe and thriving. She pledged to continue delivering practical, fact-based policy and to put her district’s needs first.

She also expressed gratitude for the broad coalition of support that helped power the campaign.
“I want to thank this community — the voters who opened their doors, asked hard questions, and believed in our work,” she said. “I am grateful to every volunteer, every door knocker, every postcard writer, and every supporter who stood with us. Campaigns are built by people who care.”

The campaign thanked key partners and organizations who mobilized on its behalf, including MAPE, Friends of the Boundary Waters, Planned Parenthood and Moms Demand Action, along with elected leaders.

“Campaigns are never won alone,” Hemmingsen-Jaeger said. “This was a team effort, and I am proud of the coalition we built together.”

Hemmingsen-Jaeger concluded by looking ahead to the work ahead at the Capitol:

“I am ready to get to work representing Woodbury and Maplewood in the Senate. I will be a strong, steady voice for our communities and govern in a way that reflects the trust voters placed in me.”
